POPULATION DENSITY AND DISTRIBUTION 

The word Population refers to people. 

Population distribution is how people are spread across an area. 

Population density is the number of people living in an area per square kilometers.

Natural and social factors affecting population distribution and density. 

1.NATURAL FACTORS 

Climate:many people settle in warmer temperatures and sufficient rainfall. 

Vegetation:many people settle where there's enough grazing land. 

Soil:fertile soil for farming attracts more people. 

Water:rivers and lakes attracts people for fishing, farming  drinking  and transportation. 

Resources:a lot live where there are plenty of natural resources for economic activities. 

Natural disaster:areas prone to floods,volcanoes  landslides-few may live there. 

Landscape:people may not live where there are mountains/deserts.people may live on flatter grounds. 


2.SOCIAL FACTORS 

Transportation:good transportation link attracts people. 

Cities/town:urban areas attracts a lot of people due to good service, housing, schools,etc.

Infrastructure:areas with good infrastructure such as telephone lines roads attract people. 

Political reasons:if there is peace, people stay in the area ,but if there is war,people move away.
