 SEARCHING FOR PEACE  CONFLICT AND VIOLENCE IN OUR SOCIETY What is conflict? ●is the disagreement between people over something important. It is fight between groups of people or countries.  What is violence? Refers to physical force intended to hurt, damage, and or kill someone or something.  Causes of conflict and violence in our society.  ●misunderstanding  ●low self-esteem  ●political reason ●financial greedy ●different views of opinions  ●alcohol and drug abuse ●frustration  Social and environmental conflicts Social conflict -disputes among the people in a village. E.g beating of children at home or  school.  Environmental conflict -conflict over the use of natural resources, damage caused or countries claiming the same part of land .E.g Namibia and Botswana claiming to own Kasikili Island.  GENDER BASED VIOLENCE (GBV) Involves abuse ad physical harm or killing between men and women. SEASON OF THE YEAR We have different types of season such as summer, autumn,winter and spring . SUMMER  ●Summer (solstice)begins in December 22 or 23. ●The weather is hot,humid and dry during this season, and the temperature can rise extremely high in a certain place,as the earth tilts itself towards the sun. ●As the sun shines brightly in summer  this season is suitable for farmers to prepare for cultivation and we get many seasonal fruits and vegetables.  ●It has longest day and shortest night.  Here are some pictures how summer season looks like.  EARLY HUMAN KIND EVOLUTION AND CREATION  Creation-is the belief that life and the universe were created by a supernatural being God.  Evolution-is the process by which different kind of living organisms developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth.  HOW OUR COMMUNITIES DEVELOPED Looking for evidence  Archaeology:is the study of human being who lived long time ago. Archeological evidence:a source or things which reminded such as ruins,pottery,human skeleton, weapons and jewelleries. ARCHAEOLOGICAL EVIDENCE WHICH TELL US ABOUT HOW PEOPLE LIVED.  Archeological materials can be grouped into four main categories as followed.  1.Artifacts These are portable materials remains ,and these objects are made or modified by a person in a specific time and place.  E.g ceramic ,stone tools and carved bone or shell. 2.Ecofacts Are naturally organic or inorganic remains found in an archaeological site, suggesting they were deposited as a result of human activity.  E.g seeds charcoal, minerals, and unmodified shell or bones . 3.Structure and features  In Archaeology, we normally use the term "structure "to refer to non-potable architectural elements, usually made of durable materials as soil, stone or wood. FIGHTING HIV AND AIDS INTRODUCTION  HIV is a virus which attracts healthy cells in the body. People with HIV do not look  sick.If an HIV positive person does not receive medical treatment, the HIV start to attack the immune system. POPULATION DENSITY AND DISTRIBUTION  The word Population refers to people.  Population distribution is how people are spread across an area.  Population density is the number of people living in an area per square kilometers.
