OUR REGIONS AND SETTLEMENT
REGIONS OF NAMIBIA
●Namibia, located in south of the African continent,is divided into 14 administrative regions.
●Although each region has limited power, it has regional administrations.
●After the independence of the country,the regions were legally determined on 3 March 1992 and the system was put into practice.
●Delimitation commission of Namibia is the only authority in the country in terms of numbers,size or division of regions.
●Namibia is divided into 14 regions, the highest administrative division.
●Regions of Namibia are Kunene,Omusati,Oshana,Ohangwena ,Ohikoto Kavango West, Kavango Easter ,Zambezi Erongo,Otjozondjupa ,Omaheke, Khomas, Hardap and//karas

SETTLEMENT
What is settlement?
●Settlement is a place where people live.A settlement may be a small as a single house in a remote areas or as large as mega city (a city with over 10 million residents).Settlement can also defined as a collection of buildings with people living in them.
Two types of settlement
A.Rural settlement
●Majority of its inhabitants are involved in activities like farming, fishing, forestry, mining.
●The pattern of rural settlement can carry from a single farm to a cluster of houses.(dispread,linear and nuclear ).
●They are normally made up of few buildings. They have few social amenities and the life is simple and quite.
●They are normally involved in primary activities.
●They have people with the same cultural background and language.
B)Urban settlement
●The majority of people are engage in non-rural activity.
●They work in office, shops and factories, operate machinery, provide health care or other services.
●Urban settlement can be small like 1000 people or can be as large as Tokyo-Yokohama in Japan with over 30 million people.
●They are mainly involved in secondary, tertiary and quaternary industries.
●They are made up of many buildings with thousands of people living in them.
